Akure, a city that was once adjudged as one of the cleanest in Nigeria is today becoming one of the dirtiest city.
Every major roads of the city were filled up with heap of refuse that littered Oba Adesida, Arakale, NEPA, Oyemekun, Democracy Park among others street.
The job of cleaning the town was the work of Ondo State Waste Management Agency before such responsibility was taken away from the agency and privatized to some private companies.
The state government has the power to allocate the cleaning of the town to whoever she wants but the public concern is the manner the major roads in state have turned to refuse dump.
The private companies in charge have stopped working due to non payment of service charges from the government. If Akeredolu government can’t continue with the service of these private companies, it better the government returns back to the status quo before this administration came on board.
With the dirty everywhere, the state is writing letter to cholera and air borne transmitted diseases. We are still battling covid-19 to no avail, if Cholera is added to it, the poor masses are in serious trouble.
“Orisa bi o ba gbemi, fi mi sile bi o se bami”. Let this state government returns the cleaning of the state to waste Management Agency and stop spreading cholera.
