In recognition of his laudable contributions to the health sector in Ondo State, the Director General of the Ondo State Contributory Health Commission, Dr Abiodun Oyeneyin has been conferred with the prestigious Media Award from the Citymovers News Magazine in Akure.
The investiture was held at SITA Event Hall in Akure where dignitaries from all walk of life were in attendance to honour the goal getter Director General of one of the most functional Agencies in Ondo State.
In his address, the Publisher of the News Tabloid, Prince Adebayo Adediran said the DG was honoured based on his unprecedented feats since assumption of office and appointment by the State Governor to head the Commission.
Chatting with the PATH NEWS, Dr Oyeneyin thanked Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN for the opportunity to serve the state as the Director General of the State Contributory Health Commission.
Dr Oyeneyin added that the Award given to him by the Citymovers Magazine was in recognition of the great work the governor is doing not only in the Health Sector alone but also in other sectors of the state.
The DG also extended his appreciation to the Commissioner of Health, Special Adviser on Health Matters, Permanent Secretaries in the Ministry of Health and Agencies, Stakeholders, Management and Staff of the Commission who are tirelessly working with him for the actualisation of the mandate given to him by the governor.
Speaking on the primary responsibility of the Commission, Dr Oyeneyin said it is the mandate of the Commission to ensure all residents of the state have Health Insurance.
He highlighted some of the products of the Commission being financed by the government to includes Abiyamo Scheme that cater for pregnant women and children under 5, saying over 35, 000 people have benefited till date in Ondo State.
He further added that the Basic Healthcare Provision cater for elderly, widows and children under 5 across the 203 wards while Orange Health Scheme cater for all Public Servants.
The DG revealed that the Commission will soon be commencing Sunshine Health Scheme for the informal Sector which will includes Artisans , Okada Riders and every member of the society that falls under Informal Sector.
He promised to engage and partner media houses in the state for proper dissemination of information as regard the activities of the Commission and the need for people of the state to embrace this golden opportunity of Akeredolu’s Health Policy.
