The much talked first storey classroom building at the Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School, Akure will soon be commissioned as the building is at the competition stage.
The building is being bankrolled by the first Principal of the School, a white woman, Miss Jane Pelly. Miss Pelly now late listed Fiwasaye Girls Grammar School in her Will Testament and in fulfilment of the wishes of the deceased, the children of Late Miss Pelly released the stated fund to the school authority.
The building to be named after her will be the first storey classroom building in the school.
Speaking with the PATH in her office, the Principal, Mrs. Ojoge Omobola Temitope commended the philanthropist gesture of the Late Pioneer Principal for remembering the school even in death.
Mrs. Ojoge said the project is almost completed leaving out some finishing work which will soon be completed.
Her words:” We are looking forward for the commissioning of the building by February. I can’t but thank the Building Committee who have been supportive and ensure probity in all dealings link to the project”.
The Principal further said despite the rise in the prices of building materials, due diligence among the Building Committee has helped in putting the structure to the finishing stage.
” To minimize cost, we employed direct labour with thorough supervision of the Artisans on site, this has really helped in reducing cost of the project”.
While thanking Fiwasaye Old Students Association (FOGA) for their cooperation and support since assumption as the Principal of the school, she added that for better External results in the Mathematics for SSS3 students, the Alumni organized extra lesson for the students with aim of overcoming the challenges the students are having in Mathematics.
“I sincerely appreciate FOGA for their support and cooperation. They just love me and the school. There’s nothing I request for that they don’t provide. The Mathematics holiday coaching was sponsored and organized by them aside donation of Plastic chairs. They were planning to build toilets for us, give Laptops, Computer Sets among others. All these donations were from different Sets”.
She specially thanked the School PTA and SBMC for cooperating with her and coming to the school rescue whenever they are call upon.
” Having noticed the state of the Administrative Block, they did the roofing and ceiling. The ongoing Basket Ball Court is with the help of God and PTA”.
Meanwhile, the Principal appealed to the students to be more prudent, discipline and studious as the school resumed for Second Term saying the criteria for promotion has not changed.
She enjoined the girls to key into the beautification of the school environment, saying learning in a conducive and beautiful environment aids quick assimilation.
