Ondo: Suspension of LG Caretaker Chairmen in Order Says NULGE National President

The National President of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Olatunji Ambali had commended Ondo State Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the suspension of the Local Government Transition Committees, saying it is illegal for any governor to operate the third tier of government with Caretaker Chairmen.

It could be recalled that Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has suspended indefinitely the caretaker chairmen of the 18 council areas and the newly sworn-in 33 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) citing court order for the suspension.

The President was speaking at the Ondo NULGE Week and inauguration of the new State Administrative Council (SAC) in Akure, Ondo State.

He saluted the courage of the State Governor for obeying the rule of law as caretaker chairmen are not democratically elected to run office at the local government levels, he assured that local government workers will continue to support the administration in all ways possible to achieve it set goals.

Comrade Ambali lamented the poor economic policies of Tinubu administration on the removal of fuel subsidy that has brought untold hardship on Nigerians stressing the need for leaders to think outside the box and bring succour to the suffering masses.

He said the Federal Government must identify and license local refineries to improve fuel supply as well restated the need to give autonomy to Local Government as against the present policy that has ruined local government administration.

He urged Governor Aiyedatiwa to emulate the late Governor of the state who is workers friendly, asking him to embark on policies that will further promote the welfare of Local Government workers.

Meanwhile, Comrade Ambali commended Comrade Taiwo for his excellent leadership in his four years’ tenure just as he urged the new exco to emulate from him.
