The Ondo State President of the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), Pastor (Mrs) Jumoke Aborode has presented gift items to the babies born on New Year.
She made the donations to the mothers of the new born babies at Primary Health Care Centre, Arakale and Comprehensive Health Care Centre ll, Oke Ijebu, Akure respectively.
In what has become the tradition of the organization to visit hospital on the first day of the year to associate with the first babies of the year, 2021 was not exceptional despite Covid-19 pandemic.
She congratulated the parents of the babies saying it was a rare and divine privilege to deliver on the first day of the year.
Pastor Aborode enjoined the mothers to breast feed the babies, adding that frequent breast feeding will give the babies require nutrients to grow and fight disease.
She also sympathized with the women who lost huge amount of money to the Covid-19 pandemic. ” A lot of women suffered a great loss due to the pandemic, some were indebted, 2020 is a year to be remembered by all”.
She said the organization will do whatever its can to empower and support women badly hit by the pandemic.
The president charged the well to do in the society to always remember the indigent and assist the women whose businesses were affected by the pandemic.
She asked all women in the state to maintain good hygiene, clean environment and observe Covid-19 protocol to the letter.
One of the mothers thanked the organization and its leadership for the visit and gift items donated to them, saying NCWS has always be at the forefront for women advocacy in the state.
In her New Year message, She wishes all the women in the state a prosperous new year, praying that God will restore all their losses in 2020.
Meanwhile, a Deputy Director at the Primary Health Board, Mrs Akinyosoye was decorated as an affiliate member of the organization.
The President said the honour done on Mrs Akinyosoye was to further boost her morale and love for the mobilisation of women most especially on children immunization.
