Akure, July 20, 2025 — Hon. Francis Belonwu, Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State on Igbo Matters (Central), was honoured with the Beacon of Hope Award at the 2025 Topshot Hall of Fame Awards, held on Sunday in Akure.
The award recognises his unwavering commitment to inclusive governance, bridge-building across ethnic lines, and his exemplary service as a voice for the Igbo community in the state.
Hon. Belonwu, a key aide to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was celebrated not just for his role in government, but also for his dedication to promoting unity, peace, and development at the grassroots level.
The award ceremony drew a high-powered delegation of members from the Forum of Special Assistants to the Governor, who turned out in solidarity to celebrate one of their own. They showered encomiums on Hon. Belonwu for his humility, integrity, and service-driven leadership style.
Equally present in strong numbers was the Igbo community in Ondo State, who came out joyfully to identify with their representative.
Speaking shortly, Hon. Belonwu thanked Topshot News for the recognition and dedicated the award to the Governor, his colleagues, and the people he serves. “This award is a reminder that selfless service does not go unnoticed,” he said. “It strengthens my resolve to do more for the good of all.”
Other awardees at the event included Dr. Toyin Adeyalo, immediate past President of Rotary Club of Akure Metro, who received the Golden Service Award; AMB. Anu Ijiti, Adaja of Isinkan, recognised for Exemplary Community Leadership; and Mr. Sesan Ajetomobi, GMD of Autoprobe Technical Services, named Topshot Man of the Year.
The evening also featured a thought-provoking lecture by urban development expert Dr. Gbolabo Osunsanmi FNITP, titled “Retrospective Perspective on Leadership, Governance and Development in Ondo State.”
Chair of the occasion, Dr. Rhoda Makinde, commended the organisers for maintaining a credible platform that recognises excellence and inspires service.
