Ondo State Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Bello Garuba has debunked the news circulating round that, the Governor of Ondo State,Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has given order to the Fulani residing in the state to vacate the state within seven days.
This was coming as the governor of the state has given seven days ultimatum to herdsmen to vacate the forest reserves across the state.
While chatting with the PATH at the association secretariat at Shasha Market, Bello frowned at those spreading false information, saying at no time did the governor ask Fulani residents in the state to leave.
According to him, ” In a meeting we held with the governor at the governor’s office, Mr Governor ban night and underage grazing and instructed the criminal minded herdsmen to vacate the forest and not the entire Fulani tribe who are doing lawful business in the state.
The Chairman said the governor invitation to the leadership and members of Miyetti Allah was the governor’s effort in providing solutions to state of kidnapping in the state. ” Governor Akeredolu did not hate Fulani, his invitation to us shows that the governor means well for us and not the other way round”.
” Criminality has no color, tribe or religion. We as a body will not do anything that will jeopardize the existing peace and harmony in the state. We are ready to fish our any criminal masquerading as Fulani herdsmen in Ondo State”.
He commended the governor for taking a bold step concerning the issue of insecurity in the state, adding that the government needs the collaboration of all the security agencies and Amotekun Corps to rid the state of criminal elements.
He advised every right thinking members of the public to disregard any information that want to set the Fulani against the government.
Since the inception of this administration, Governor Akeredolu has been up and doing in ensuring the state is free of criminals with little success recorded.
The Governor frowned at the high rate of kidnapping and killings along major high ways across the state, adding that active measures has been put in place to tackle the threat to lives in Ondo State.
