WORLD MALARIA DAY 2021: NCWS distributes Free Anti Malaria Drugs To Women, Children
Ondo State Chapter of the National Council For Women Societies (NCWS) has distributed free Anti Malaria drug to the women and children in commeration of the 2021 World Malaria Day.
April 25th is the World Malaria Day celebrated across the globe every year with aim of reaching zero malaria target in malaria infected countries.
World Malaria Day is an occasion to highlight the need for continued investment and sustained political commitment for malaria prevention and control. It was instituted by WHO member states during the World Health Assembly of 2007.
To commemorate this year edition, Excel Mankind Wellbeing Initiative (EMWI) in collaboration with the National Council for Women Societies organised program to sensitise women on the danger of malaria and how to overcome the deadly disease.
The program was sponsored by SWIPHA having seen the activeness of the organisation in championing the cause of women and children in the society.
While speaking with Newsmen, the State President of NCWS, Pastor Mrs Jumoke Aborode described malaria as deadly disease that has killed millions children and women across the world.
She said there is need to sensitise everybody across the 18 Local Governments of the state on the causes, control and prevention of Malaria Fever.
” Malaria Fever is caused by Plasmodium parasites which is spread to people through the bites of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes”.
She advised malaria infected people to patronise hospital whenever they perceive symptoms of malaria rather than resulting to self help.
” I am using this medium to enlighten our women who are suffering from malaria fever to take recommended drugs prescribed by a qualified Medical Doctor because using fake drugs will do more damages to your health”.
The President also enjoined the women to always maintain clean and hygienic environment, saying proper disposal of their Cans and Wastes will prevent the spread of malaria.
She tasked the state government on the need to provide adequate fund for the free treatment of malaria fever, most especially for pregnant women who require the treatment for safe delivery of their babies.
She thanked the sponsor of the program, looking forward for more collaboration in future with Excel mankind wellbeing lnitiative( NGO).
Meanwhile, the chairman Medical Team of NCWS, Mrs Smart while speaking with newsmen in Akoko North East of the state disclosed that, NCWS is ready to sensitize women and girls’ child in each of the local government on the need to visit government approved hospitals to receive appropriate treatment whenever they are nursing malaria fever.
She urged women of the state to handle their health challenges with utmost care, adding that NCWS will continue to propagate whatever will bring succour to womenfolk in Ondo State.
