Fact has begun to emerged on why the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu was chosen above other lobbyists for the exalted position.
The Ikale born Princess who later became the preferred candidate of Governor Akeredolu as against other people who have shown interest in becoming SSG has allegedly travelled to Lagos after the governor dissolved all Boards and Agencies of government.
The last two occupiers of the position were the Akure born politicians, Hon Ifedayo Abegunde, Abena, who resigned from the office on the allegation of being marginalised and was replaced by Hon Tayo Oluwatuyi Tukana.
The general believe was that, Tukana will be returned as SSG, having spent less than eight months in the position before the expiration of Akeredolu first term in office.
Our source revealed that, money was allegedly released to Tukana for the renovation of SSG Ouarter and some of his belongings were allegedly moved to the Quarter before the last minute change of mind by the governor.
It was also gathered that, the choice of Princess Oladunni Odu received the support of the First Lady, Mrs Betty Anyanwu Akeredolu as against the alleged preferred female politician from Akure who is very close to the governor.
The Governor later settled for Princess Odu when all attempt to choose the Akure female politician was allegedly resisted by “power that be”.
Governor Akeredolu who values competency and merit above geographical consideration saw in Princess Oladunni Odu the charisma and aura of personality of a woman who has what it takes to deliver the mandate expected of the office of the SSG.
Tracking the past antecedent of Princess Odu in various positions she has occupied, her achievements were second to none. She is trustworthy, loyal and ready to face daunting tasks at her own expense. If you call her a goal getter and result oriented, you are definitely right.
One female politician in the history of Ondo state that remains consistent politically is Princess Odu; she has been in government since 1995 and garnered experience that helped her to deliver in all the position so far occupied. Her male counterpart at both the state and national politics can’t weigh her influence down.
Princess Oladunni Odu is intelligent and brilliant with intimidating credentials; academically, politically and exposure wise.
She was the immediate past Chairman of SUBEB before her present position as Secretary to the State Government.
