The lawmaker representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Hon. Akingbaso Festus Olanrewaju has donated a Toyota Previa minivan to the Institute of Part-Time Programmes of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) on behalf of his set, the 2021/22 Class of Masters of Public Administration,MPA
Speaking during the presentation to the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, on Tuesday, July 25th, 2023, the Class Governor of 2021/22 MPA set, Eric Pere Yanyangbini, Esq expressed great delight saying, “the gesture is a way of giving back to the institution”
The Class Governor presented the bus with other members of the class namely but not limited to Elder Adedara Thompson, Mr. Jonathan Ojo, Mr. Akinnowonu Sola, Mrs. Akinseye, Mrs. Ayodele Gloria, Messrs Ajisafe, Ola, Ajayi Tosin and Mrs. Ogundairo.
He also used the opportunity to most especially commend Hon. Akingbaso for solely shouldering the burden to purchase the vehicle.
Responding, the VC noted that universities worldwide receive significant support from their alumni, who play vital role in the progress and growth of their alma mater.
The University don also emphasized that, these contributions are crucial for the survival of the university.
He commended the students, especially Hon. Festus Akingbaso for deeming it fit to add value to their alma mater just as he called on other stakeholders in the education sector to contribute to the University.
“Alumni are the backbone of universities worldwide, and even though our university is young, what we are witnessing proves that the future is bright for us.
“I commend this class of our MPA programme for their unity of purpose in working towards this achievement. If we witness similar gestures in all our Faculties, Institutes, and Departments, the burden of funding the University will be significantly reduced. This gesture serves as an eye-opener for all our students. While we used to receive donations of office equipment and generators, the recent donation of vehicle is a welcome development that warms our hearts”, He added.
*Also speaking, the Director of the IPTP, Dr. Bayo Fasunwon, commended the students for their goodwill just as he emphasized that the Institute never solicited anything from its students.*
He further stated that efforts would be intensified to sustain the integrity and wide acceptance of the Institute’s programmes.
The Institute of Part-Time Programmes of Adekunle Ajasin University offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses on a part-time basis at its Akure and Akungba Cemtres.
