Facts have begun to emerged on what led to the frosty relationship between the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and Chief Alex Ajipe, Managing Director of KlickKonnet, the Consultant to the Ondo State Ministry of Natural Resources.

The consultancy job recently withdrawn from Ajipe and the Senatorial ambition of the Emure born business man failed to receive the blessing of Governor Akeredolu was said to have led to the cracked between the duo.

PATH insider learnt that trouble brewed when Governor Akeredolu kicked against the senatorial ambition of Chief Alex Ajipe who has set up political machinery to actualise his aspiration of becoming the next Senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District in 2023.

The PATH source said the governor has already promised one of his close ally from Akoko speaking part of the Senatorial District the ticket, saying it is not possible to have a governor and senator from the same local government.

Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is from Owo and Chief Alex Ajipe is from Emure-Ile in Owo Local Government.

Aside coming from the same local government with the governor, Akeredolu was said to be concerned about financial commitment of the election but Ajipe was said to be boastful, telling the governor of his fat pocket.

It could be recalled that Ondo State Government closed the forest and stopped all forestry activities in September, a moved link to the frosty relationship between Ajipe and Governor Akeredolu which eventually led to the withdrawal of the Ministry of Natural Resources consultancy from his firm.

Meanwhile, Ajipe has said the relationship between him and the governor is still cordial saying he has no regret supporting the governor to win second term ticket.

Both the social and traditional media have been flooded with news of a major rift between Ajipe and Governor Akeredolu over alleged disagreement on the 2023 election.

He insisted that he was in constant communication with Akeredolu before, during and after the Ondo governorship election and he will continue to support his government that we all enthroned.

According to him, all the allegations on the social media and some online bloggers are not true and even not enough for him to cause war between him and the governor.

“Let me therefore call on individuals and media houses engaged in this act to desist from doing so. The APC remains one single, indivisible party and i remains a loyal member of the party who respects both the party structure as well as its leaders

I remained committed to the government we all enthroned and will continue to give my support at all level to the government. Ajipe said

As the Cold War was on going, a group called “Concerned Timber Merchants” has accused the governor of handing over the ministry of Natural Resources to a company link to the son of the governor, Babajide Akeredolu.

They also claimed that, the recent lifting of ban on the activities of timber traders in the state forest is to allow the company allegedly linked with Babajide to take charge of Ministry of Natural Resources.

The state government who has earlier aware of the plot of the blackmailers has asked the public to ignore the fake story cooked against the first family in the state.

A statement by the Commissioner for information and Orientation, Donald Ojogo said the planned smear campaign was targeted at the Governor’s family with fabricated details and spurious allegations.

“It has come to our notice that some unscrupulous individuals have perfected plans to blackmail the Akeredolu administration, using the first family as a target of their smear campaign.

“The plan, which was hatched and orchestrated by these individuals, particularly, targeted the Governor’s son, Babajide Akeredolu, on allegations of high handedness and interference with serious government decisions, especially as it relates to the economic activities at the government reserves

“Succinctly, the purveyors of this heinous plot have perfected plans to lie against the Governor and his son of attempting to take over the management of the forest reserves so as to corner the resources for personal gains.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Akeredolu handles the business of government with utmost respect and accountability. The government decision to ban all logging activities and subsequent lifting of the ban, are all in the interest of the state.

“This government is exploring all avenues and blocking loopholes to shore up its Internally Generated Revenue so as to ensure that more funds are brought into the government coffers to drive development in the state. We will not fold arms and allow disgruntled elements ruin the gains that have been recorded and being consolidated on, in the state.

“Under this administration, we have recorded significant progress and growth in our IGR. For a government that has shown accountability and readiness to explore all economic angles for the progress of the state in the past four year, it is not only laughable but, preposterous for any disgruntled group to suggest that Governor Akeredolu’s son was planning to man the ministry of natural resources for personal gain.” the statement reads.

Ojogo urged members of the public to disregard the lies being peddle around by bad losers whose aim is to distract the Governor and government of the state.
