Hon Tajudeen Adefioye Atenidegbe representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives has given cash empowerment to 200 Market Women in Idanre, Idanre Local Government of Ondo State.
The cash empowerment program was the third edition of Hon Adefioye popularly called Small Alhaji quarterly grants to market women since he was elected as their representative in the National Assembly.
He has so far empowered 600 market women with N20,000 each to either boost their businesses or start a small trading outfit.
While speaking with the PATH, Small Alhaji said the empowerment program was in fulfilment of his campaign promises to the women in Idanre/ Ifedore Federal Constituency on quarterly grants to them.
In his words, ” During my campaign, I promised to change the situation of the market women who were at the mercy of LAPO and ZIP Micro Finance institutions which treated them badly whenever they fail to meet remittance period. I felt their pains and assured them that if given opportunity to serve as their representative at the National Assembly, grants will be given to them on quarterly basis”.
He charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money for their businesses, noting that those that were not captured in the empowerment should wait for the mega empowerment slated for August 3.
The Vice Chairman on House Committee on Army disclosed that, the mega empowerment slated for August 3 will cut across the two local governments of the Federal Constituency where 20 vehicles, 100 motorcycles, grinding machines, Generators, Sewing Machines, Scholarship among other items will be distributed.
He commended the leadership of APC under Engr Ade Adetimehim for uniting every members of the party, pleading with members he might have offended when he left the party before his returns to his original political home.
Small Alhaji assured the people of Idanre that the proposed higher institution bill is now at committee level, saying very soon Idanre will have it first tertiary institution.
While speaking, the representative of Owa of Idanre, Oba Fredrick Aroloye, Chief Odunwo commended the kind gesture of the lawmaker, saying his good representation at the National Assembly has shown that the people made the right choice.
He advised beneficiaries of the grants to use the money for the purpose it was made for.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Akinbola thanked Small Alhaji for remembering the women, praying for long life and sound health as he continues to represent the people.
The peak of the program was the presentation of N20,000 cash to the 200 market women.
