OYEMEKUN GRAMMAR SCHOOL HOLDS WALK-IN CEREMONY FOR NEW STUDENTS, HARPS ON STRICT ADHERENCE TO CODE OF CONDUCT

Oyemekun Grammar School Akure has conducted Walk-In Ceremony for the newly admitted students to the school while the school Principal harping on the need to adhere strictly to the code of conduct of the school.

The Walk-In Ceremony was the tradition of officially admitting the New In-Take into the school with orientation programme where the students would be taught the do and don’t of the school, history of the school and familiarization tour of different facilities in the school.

Addressing the students, the Princpal of OGSA, Mr Ogunleye Okeowo congratulated the luckiest students who have been privileged to be admitted into the school saying over three thousand Pupils made Oyemekun Grammar School Akure their first choice but just six hundred and seventy students were admitted.

While welcoming the New In-Takes, Ogunleye described the school as a mother to many great Nigerians who are leaders and movers of the country, believing that parents preference for OGSA was because of the Products of the school that are not only making Ondo State proud but Nigeria as a whole.

He added that Oyemekun Grammar School Akure is not being referred to as the ONLY SCHOOL for the fun of it but because of the school academic excellence, upright moral conduct, discipline, outstanding sporting activities, standard facilities among others stand the school out.

“Our students are noted for success in academic and other sphere of life. Our Boys represented Ondo State at National Inter-Brigade Military Quiz Competition in Ibadan, we came Second out of Twenty-Nine States that were represented aside coming first at competition organized by the Police College among others academic excellence”.

Ogunleye urged the students to exploit their God given potential and showcase their hidden talents in Sports saying his Boys have won several laurels and medals in Volleyball, Relay Race, Table Tennis to the admiration of Ondo State Government.

The Principal thanked the state governor for acknowledging the importance of education in the state saying the school couldn’t have been able to achieve any success or growth without the support of the state government.

” You can bear me witness that what we pay as school fees is meager amount compared to what they pay in private schools and other States; the Governor provided free education from the Primary to Secondary Schools”.

He further commended the governor for for the renovation of most of the primary schools, construction of perimeter fences, employment of over two thousand primary school teachers, pay salary arrears owed by Past government, WAEC fees for SSS 3 Students which OGSA was one of the beneficiaries.

He charged the new students to do their best to retain the studentship by obeying the school’s rules and regulations.” You must adhere strictly to the code of conduct given to you, let it guide you on daily basis”.

Ogunleye asked them to be hardworking, shun laziness, focused and avoid all distraction that could hinder their academic progress in the school.

He congratulated the parents for the joy of having their wards in the school, urging them to give priority to their children’ s needs, saying inability to provide for them might lead them to bad gang. “Show love to them and build their confidence as they leave home everyday.

He added that OGSA is rated as the best of its academic excellence asking the parents to buy all recommended textbooks, check on their daily activities and make happy always.

The Principal also thanked the Old Students Association of the school for their laudable contributions and support to the development of the school through different projects embarked upon in the school.

” The association is always coming to our aids at all times; they do give scholarships to our students, renovated blocks of classrooms, the laboratories, Supplied piece of furniture to the laboratories and they are still doing more”.

He lauded the God fearing teachers and staff of the school saying the achievements so far recorded in academics, sports could not have been possible without the cooperation of the teachers who are diligent, committed, dedicated, loving and caring.

” I was declared the Best Princpal Ondo State and also at the 2023 World Teachers’Day, I was adjudged Ist Runner Up- Best Administrator Public Schools in Nigeria by the Federal Government. This is to tell you that all Staff here in Oyemekun Grammar School Akure are competent, experienced and highly knowledgeable”.

He urged them not to relent in giving their best to the students.
