VS: OGSA Princpal Reels Out School’s Achievements, Bids Graduands Farewell

The Princpal of Oyemekun Grammar School Akure, Mr Ogunleye Okeowo has reeled out major achievements and development that “the Only School” has recorded since assumption as the School’s Principal.
Mr Ogunleye stated this while addressing the 2022/2023 graduating students at the Valedictory Service organized by the school for the graduands.
Speaking, the Princpal appreciated the school Vice Principals, teachers, Staff and Parents Teachers Association for their support and cooperation.
He commended the Old Students Association of the school for various remarkable projects embarked by them, saying they have been supportive to his administration.
He said Oyemekun Grammar School Akure is very unique in both Ondo State and the country at large saying the school has been mother to many great Nigerians in different field of endeavours.
“The school has produced great professionals in every field of human endeavors. Oyemekun Grammar School was founded on the firm principles of integrity, honesty, discipline and academic excellence”.
Highlighting some of the major breakthrough of the school, Mr Ogunleye said the school has performed creditably well in academic, sport and infrastructural developments.
According to him, “In October 2022, OGSA attended Teens Connect Africa Quiz and Debate Competition and we came first in both the Quiz and Debate. In the same October 2022, we attended Scientists Presidential Quiz Competition and our boys came second”.
Mr Ogunleye added that in November 2022, the school came first in the Creative and Innovation Foundation Talent Hunt Competition and also came first in 2023 President Inter School Debate Competition and 2023 Nigeria Spelling Bee Competition.
The Principal noted that academic wise, Oyemekun Grammar School takes the lead saying both internal and external examination, the school is always doing well.
“Just last year, the school recorded 89% in WAEC results, 100% in NECO, 100% in JSS 3 Education Certificate Examination and 100% in Joint SS 2 Examination”.
He further stated that his boys are not found wanting in sports as several laurels and medals have been won for the school among which includes Champion in 2022 and 2023 Ondo State Milo Basket Ball Championship.
“At the National Milo Basket Ball Championship in 2023, the school took 3rd position with fair play trophy. Also at the Nigeria School Sport Federation, the School Relay Team came first.
He said one of the school Basket Ball Players in Nigeria was picked as the Best Basketball player in Nigeria by NSSF.
“Two of our boys have OGSA on world record. Chukum Ebenezer qualified to represent Nigeria in 100m and Zoom at the World School Championship in Turkey while Solomon Philip because Guinness World Record Holder in International Rope Skipping Championship by May 2023”.
The Principal expressed his profound gratitude to the Old Students Association under the leadership of Dr Niyi Ijogun for their various contributions most especially in the aspect of Infrastructural development.
Mr Ogunleye who was recently decorated and honored with Presidential Award during the 2023 World Teachers’Day Celebration in Abuja as the Best Administrator in Public Schools and over Nigeria said the honour was an evident in the school attainment over the years.
“We shall continue to strive harder towards becoming the best in whatever we do. We shall continue to give value to the government and parents for the resources committed to the academic and moral well-being of our students”.
He promised not to disappoint the confidence repose in his leadership of the school, saying the school is growing higher everyday and he will continue to do what will stand Oyemekun Grammar School Akure out in the state.
He extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Workers Friendly Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN for providing enabling environment for education to thrive.
“Mr. Governor knows the important of quality education in the state and that is why he provided free education for both Primary and Secondary School students in Ondo State”.
” Aside massive renovation of schools in the state, Mr. Governor paid WAEC fees for all Public Schools Students in Ondo State despite acute shortage of fund. Over four hundred students of Oyemekun Grammar School Akure who wrote the last Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination benefited from it”.
He charged the graduands to always remember the kind of academic and moral training received from the school and should live up to expectation in every area of their respective life.
While administering Oath of Allegiance and Induction on the graduating students to the Alumni of the school, the National President of Old Students Association of OGSA, Dr Niyi Lijogun congratulated the Boys for a successful academic excellence in the school, urging them to be a good representative of the school in wherever they might found themselves.
In his Valedictory Speech, the outgoing Senior Prefect Master Ologun Ayomikun expressed his profound gratitude to the management and teachers of the school for their love, advise and teaching.
Zonal Education Secretary Mrs Ilorin advised the Graduands not to see the completion of their academic exercise in the school as freedom but steps to move further in their academic pursuit saying the only way they can make the school and parents proud is to be great in their academic and future endeavors.
