Owo Constituency 2: Group Warns Against Altering Primary Results That Produced ATM As Candidate
A Group named Owo Concerned Citizens has actively warned against any attempts to upturn primary results that produced Hon Adeola Taoheed Musa (ATM) in the just concluded All Progressive Congress (APC) as the duly elected candidate for Owo Constituency 2.
The warnings emphasize respect for democratic processes, the preservation of the people’s mandate, and the integrity of the ruling party which must be kept intact.
Following recent primary elections into different positions of the ruling APC in Ondo State, various civic coalitions and party stakeholders raised alarms over voter disenfranchisement, irregularities, and the alleged imposition of candidates.
The group added that, thwarting primary processes threatens the sanctity of the democratic process which could affect the chances of the party winning future elections.
According to the group, there is increasing frustration among party loyalists over the outcome of the recent political process in the constituency, alleging that the candidate presented did not reflect the preference of many grassroots supporters and party faithful.
The group claimed that votes cast during the primary were allegedly diverted in a manner that did not represent the wishes of party members, insisting that the candidate believed to have wider support and stronger electoral appeal was sidelined.
Speaking further, the concerned citizens argued that presenting an unpopular candidate could weaken the party’s chances during the general election and potentially affect APC’s performance in Owo.
They maintained that political decisions taken at this stage require careful consideration, especially in constituencies where local support and grassroots acceptance often play a crucial role in determining election outcomes.
