Why APC May Lose Owo Votes in 2027 General Election – Concerned Citizens Raise Alarm
A group identified as Owo Concerned Citizens has expressed concern over what it described as growing dissatisfaction within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning that the situation could affect the electoral fortunes of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Owo Local Government, particularly in Owo Constituency II.
According to the group, there is increasing frustration among party loyalists over the outcome of the recent political process in the constituency, alleging that the candidate presented did not reflect the preference of many grassroots supporters and party faithful.
The group claimed that votes cast during the primary were allegedly diverted in a manner that did not represent the wishes of party members, insisting that the candidate believed to have wider support and stronger electoral appeal was sidelined.
Speaking further, the concerned citizens argued that presenting an unpopular candidate could weaken the party’s chances during the general election and potentially affect APC’s performance in Owo.
They maintained that political decisions taken at this stage require careful consideration, especially in constituencies where local support and grassroots acceptance often play a crucial role in determining election outcomes.
The group therefore appealed to the leadership of the party in Ondo State and called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to intervene and review the concerns being raised.
According to them, urgent action is needed to address the grievances of party members and restore confidence among supporters before the situation escalates further.
They stressed that resolving internal disagreements early could help strengthen party unity and prevent avoidable setbacks ahead of future elections.
“APC and Governor Aiyedatiwa must act now before it becomes too late,” the group stated.
