.. Says Responsibility of Position More Than Joy

The Grand Chief Imam of Akure Empire, Sheikh (Dr) Abdul-Hakeem Yayi Akorede has turbaned Imam Ismail Abdul-Nafiu Ododoloto as the Chief Imam of Eyin Apata Community in Akure on Saturday, 13th May, 2023.

The turbaning ceremony was held at Al-haqq Islamic Model Schools, Eyin Apata Community, Akure with huge turn out of dignitaries from all walk of life mostly from the Muslim Community.

The highly elaborated turbaning was witnessed by nothing less than 100 Imams, Alfas, Islamic Clerics among others invited guests.

The guest lecturer for the event, Dr Abdulwasi Muhammad Awwal speaks on theme, “Leadership Roles in Our Society” said leaders of all class should endeavours to live above board always saying whatever thing they do on earth would be accounted for when they meet their creator.

He charged the incoming president Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other Nigeria leaders to govern and lead right in any position they might found themselves.

Speaking, the Grand Chief Imam of Akure Empire, Sheikh Abdul-Hakeem Yayi Akorede congratulated Imam Ododoloto saying he deserved the position for his knowledge, humility, trustworthiness, uprightness and contributions to the development of Islam in Akure and Environs.

Sheikh Akorede described Ododoloto as a trustworthy, humility personified, kindhearted man he can vouch for, adding that he will never join rebellion or gang up against his leadership as the Grand Chief Imam of Akure Kingdom.

He charged Imams and all religion leaders present to emulate the good virtue saying rebellion, backbiting and gang up against his leadership of Muslim Community in Akure will continue to result into futile exercise because its Almighty Allah that appointed him.

He prayed Allah to bless and give him wisdom, knowledge and understanding to lead the Jamal and Muslim Community in Eyin Apata right in the ways of God.

Sheikh Akorede implored the Muslim faithfuls in Eyin Apata Community to support and cooperate with him to achieve the religious task he is saddled with.

Meanwhile, chatting with the PATH, the celebrant disclosed that his happiness is in moderation because of the responsibility ahead which only Almighty Allah can help him to sustain.

” I am happy in moderation because the joy of being turbaned as the Chief Imam of Eyin Apata Community does not equate the responsibility attached to the position. It is a title to serve God and can also be a position to excel in life provided the fear and grace of God is sufficient”.

He prayed for God infinite mercy, favour and grace to excel and discharge his duties diligently in accordance with the tenet of Islam. ” The responsibility is more than the joy but whoever sees the favour and mercy of God will definitely see beyond the whole world”.

” My major concern is how to make a head way as the Chief Imam of Eyin Apata Community Akure and not merriment or colouration of the turbaning”.

While thanking the Muslims Community in Eyin Apata for the offer, he declared that the position as Chief Imam given to him was a joint agreement which he can’t reject.

Her words: ” Holy Quran supported appointment of leaders into position; whoever is appointed to the position of Imam must accept it and if not appointed, don’t hesitate to appoint yourself.

Imam Ododoloto said with God, he will do everything possible to increase the population of Muslim Community in Eyin Apata, saying only God in His mercy can speak to the mind of new convert into Islam.

“God promised Prophet Muhammed (SWT) that at appropriate time people will continue to join Islam; we as mortal can only try our best and allow Allah to do the rest’.

He extended words of appreciation to invited guests who honoured him with their presence.

The climax of the event was the turbaning of Imam Ododoloto and presentation of letter of appointment and confirmation which was presented to him by the Grand Chief Imam.

The event have in attendance Grand Chief Imam of Akure Empires, Sheikh Abdul-Hakeem Yayi Akorede, Late wife of Deji of Akure, Sheikh Sharafadeen Asisoloriro, Oba Abioye Nurein Oyewole, Olubode of Bode, Alhaji Jimoh Iyiola, traditional rulers, Imams, Alfas among others.
