Imafon Community Celebrates New Yam Festival

The 2023 New Yam Festival of Imafon Community will forever remain evergreen in the memory of the community as sons and daughters across the world joined the traditional ruler of the community, Oba Samuel Aliu Adegbehingbe, olumafon of Imafon to celebrate the annual festival.

The New Year festival is an annual festival inherited from the forefathers of the ancient community some centuries back.

Speaking with PATH, the traditional ruler of the community, Oba Samuel Aliu Adegbehingbe congratulated the sons and daughters of the community for being alive to witness the 2023 edition of the New Yam Festival.

He said part of the tradition of the town is to celebrate New Yam in the community, saying the 2023 festival was unique and more colorful because it falls within the period when the governor of the state promoted him.

He enjoined every son and daughter of the community to always remember their country home saying no matter the number of years spent abroad, home is the best.

The Monarch thanked the Governor of Ondo State for remembering Imafon Community in his Programme while also calling the attention of the Governor to the poor road network facing the community.

According to him, ” Imafon Community has experienced a lot of development since I ascended the throne; one major challenge we are facing is bad road and believe our listening and Mr Talk and Do governor will do the needful on our road soon”.

He thanked all the traditional rulers that came in their numbers to celebrate with him, saying unity among Obas in Akure South and North Local Governments has helped development in their various domains.

Some of the traditional rulers in attendance includes Akapinsa of Ipinsa, Iralepo of Isinkan, Asuada of Isuada, Senior High Chief Falowo, Aro of Akure Kingdom, Olugele among others.
