FUTA Dept of Entrepreneurship Confers Distinguished Award of Excellence On OSAEC Chairman, Rotimi Wemimo

Multiple Award Winning Agribusiness Guru and Chairman of the Ondo State Agricultural Empowerment Agency (OSAEC), Chief Rotimi Wemimo Akinsola has been conferred with Distinguished Award of Excellence in Agripreneurship and Food Security by the Department of Entrepreneurship of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA).
The award investiture took place on the 30th June, 2026 at Theodore Idibiye Francis Auditorium, FUTA during the 2026 Entrepreneurship Eminent Personality Lecture & Distinguished Award of Excellence Ceremony under the Chief Host, Professor Adenike Oladiji, the varsity Vice Chancellor.
The Guest Speaker, Mr Temitope Toogun, the Chief Executive Officer of Cognity Advisory Abuja, speaks on the theme: “Building a Trillion-Dollar Nigerian Economy Through 21st Century Technopreneurial Education’.
In his welcome address, the Acting Head of Department of Entrepreneurship, Dr David Ilori stated that, eminent Nigerians who made the 2026 list were carefully selected based on their outstanding achievements in their various field of endeavors.
He added that, Federal University of Technology Akure and the department will continue to celebrate individual and corporate bodies who are contributing to entrepreneurship development within and outside Ondo State.
The Vice Chancellor of the Varsity, Prof Adenike Oladiji Congratulated the lucky recipients of the FUTA Distinguished Award of Excellence from the Department of Entrepreneurship, saying the university is taking note of every reputable individuals that are contributing to the nation building via education sector.
She noted that, through technoprenurship, building a trillion-dollar Nigerian Economy is achievable, saying university sector has a big role to play in achieving it.
Speaking with Newsmen, Chief Akinsola thanked the management of the school for considering him among prominent Nigerians who were decorated with the prestigious honour.
” This is bigger than an award.It is a reminder of why we do this work, food security that starts at home and grows into real opportunity for everyone”.
Wemimo stated that, the award conferment couldn’t have been made possible without the resilient effort of both the government and private team working with him at OSAEC
.
His words: ” Let me be clear, this award is not mine alone, it belongs to every single person at OSAEC, our government team and our private team. Without you, there would be nothing to celebrate today”.
OSAEC Boss added that, the agency is result oriented in line with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa OUR EASE agenda because of his team commitment and zeal to empower youth and women in Agribusiness across the nook and cranny of Ondo State.
He enjoined Ondo State residents to embrace agriculture, saying agriculture is for all, status or positions notwithstanding.
“Agriculture is for all of us, start small, I know you won’t regret it. A little garden behind your house can save you from complaining about the price of tomatoes and pepper in the market”.
He assured people interested in Agriculture of the agency support, noting that, OSAEC is ready to walk whoever wants to engage in commercial farming through the basics.
