The Publisher of the Southwest Heralds Magazine,Otunba Adu Moses has lost his mother to the cold hands of death.
Late Mrs Julianah Ajibare Adu (née Adanlawo) passed away at the age of 83.
According to him, the unfortunate news of his mother’s death was broken to him while he and his friends were visiting the late Pa Reuben Fasoranti to pay their condolences.
Otunba Adu explained that the wonderful woman had left an indelible footprint but regretted that they lost her at a time when the children needed more of her motherly wisdom, counsel and affection. However, there was nothing they could do, as God gives and takes away.
Burial arrangement would be announced by the family.
Mama was born on 21 June 1943 into the noble families of late chief Samuel Oroko Adanlawo, who was the late Odofin of Iju, (Akure North local government) and her late mother, Madam Ruth Adefolaku Adanlawo of the Odopetu Gbegbe chieftaincy family, Iju.
She attended her elementary school at St Stephens Anglican primary school, Iju, Akure North Local Government.
She got married in 1961 to her husband, Mr Johnson Akinbobola Adu, whose father originated from Ijare but settled in Akure and blessed with 5 children and 10 grandchildren.
Mama is a devoted Christian of Anglican denomination and was baptised as Julianah in 1951 and confirmed as a communicant in 1953 by Late Bishop Awosika.
She is presently a parishioner at the St David’s Anglican Cathedral, Ijomu, Akure and belongs to Band of Christ Society of the church. She is also an active member of Women’s Guild and has won an outstanding award by the Guild.
Mama was a self-employed trader and she remined a food vendor until she felt age was no more on her side, and “retired living on pension”.
“Eye” Ibidun (as commonly known and called) is quiet and unassuming kind-hearted, loving and caring. She is so devoted and dutiful to her husband and his family, like the biblical “Ruth” (infact, one of his husband’s cousins once remarked that “eye” Ibidun really “served” the family – she was truly “Iyawo Ile” in and out). Hardworking and very accommodating, who bears no grudges against anyone. She was committed to the academic advancement of his children and siblings, despite her personal limited educational attainment. And she does not indulge her children in any act of indiscipline.
