LABOREMUS ON THE PITCH: OYEMEKUN GRAMMAR SCHOOL BAGS 2ND RUNNER-UP, 10 AWARDS AT JOHNVENT APEX LEAGUE_

The 73-year legacy of excellence at *Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure* has found a new expression on the football pitch.
The school’s boys made Akure proud at the just-concluded *Johnvent Secondary Schools Apex League*, clinching the coveted *2nd Runner-Up* position after a thrilling campaign against top schools across Akure South and Akure North of Ondo State.
But the achievement was only the beginning. The “Akure Giants” returned home with a haul that stunned the stadium: *10 individual and team awards, 20 gold-bronze medals, and cash prize* for the school.
The cynosure of all eyes was the team’s tactician, *Mr. Tosin Dada*, who was crowned *“Best Coach of the Tournament”*. His strategic play, calm sideline presence, and player-first philosophy earned standing ovations from scouts, officials, and even rival coaches.
“This is not just about football. It is about discipline, teamwork, and the Oyemekun spirit Laboremus”. Principal *Mr Oluyide Adeniyi* said while receiving the prizes. “_We thank Johnvent for investing in our youths, and we thank *Mr. Tosin Dada and Mr Olayemi* for building men of character.”
Aside the award of Best Coach to *Mr Oluwatosin Dada*, the team and players were honored with the following:

3. *Best player of the tournament* (Abiola Omileye)*
4. *An outstanding player of the tournament* *(Adeosun Joy)*
5. *Best Coach of the tournament*
6. *Best Captain of the tournament*
7. *Best striker of the season* (*Benjamin Evans*)
8. *Outstanding Player of the tournament* *(Abiola Omileye)*
9. *Outstanding Team Manager of the Tournament* *(Mr Olayemi)*
With this feat, Oyemekun Grammar School has announced itself as a new powerhouse in school sports. The future, indeed, is green and gold.
