Ekiti Governorship Election: Police Declares Readiness for Saturday Poll, Cautions Against Violence

Ahead of Saturday Ekiti Governorship Election slated for June 20th, the Commissioner of Police in charge of election security, Abayomi Shogunle has assured the people of the state of the Force readiness for the election.

He stated this during a Press Briefing with the Journalists at the Police Headquarters, Ekiti State Command.

The CP assured voters of adequate protection of lives and property before, during, and after the election, saying all preparations are on top gears.

He urged residents of voting age to exercise their franchise without fear during the Saturday election saying all polling unit would be manned by security personnel.

CP Shogunle said anyone involved in ballot snatches or vote buying if caught will face the wrath of the law.

On the restriction of vehicular movement, the CP said students writing WAEC are free to go to their respective schools without hindrance of any form from the police.

He added that, sensitive materials for the election would be escorted by the police for safety, noting that the Police would be neutral without compromising its integrity.

” We are soliciting for support and cooperation of all, before, during and after the exercise, because all stakeholders must cooperate for the success of the election”.

“Police are working with other security agencies to protect voters, officials, candidates, and election materials”.
