St Dominic Principal calls for stronger monitoring system against students roaming the street
For quality education development in schools, the Principal of St Dominic High School, Akure, Mrs Mercy Odumakinde has called on the Ministry of Education for stronger monitoring of students roaming streets during the school’s hours saying government has wherewithal to checkmate any erring student.
She stated this while speaking with the School Resumption Monitoring Journalists, noting that, Principals efforts alone won’t be enough without support coming from the state government.
” We are pleading with the Honourable Commissioner to take drastic steps on the promised monitoring of the students, who are in the habit of roaming about during the teaching hours. The Government can set up Task Force, whose responsibility is to arrest students walking around the street during school’s hours”.
Speaking on the newly introduced central payment system for public schools, she described it as a good initiative that will promote accountability and transparency among schools in the state.
Odumakinde said the school would continue to focus on academic excellence, urging students to shun distractions, work hard and take their studies seriously.
She added that the school is determined to sustain its academic performance and provide a strong foundation for students throughout the new session.
The Principal further clarified that, the school only collect approved collectibles saying anything outside that is considered illegal.
She advised both the returning and JSS 1 Students to be studious and face what brought them to school, saying truancy, bully, indiscipline, violation to the school rules and regulations will not be condoned by the school management.
