Why My Law Firm Is Rendering Free Legal Services To The Less Privileged – Wole Otetubi

The Vice Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association, Akure Chapter and a Notary Public appointed by the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Wole Otetubi has disclosed the rationale behind the free legal services being rendered by his law firm to the downtrodden in the society.
He stated this while chatting with the PATH Correspondent at the the Chronicle award presentation to some outstanding Nigerians, an event held at the NMA Hall in Akure.
Wole Otetubi bagged outstanding Legal Practitioner of the year Award based on his contributions to the society and free legal services to the less privileged Nigerians.
He said the need to help innocent people who could not afford legal fees and also decongest the correctional facility inspired him to rendered free legal services to the downtrodden in the society.
“A lot of innocent people are languishing in custody unnecessarily, offering free legal services to them is one of our ways of contributing to the society and also decongest the correctional facility”.
” It is a standing rule in Wole Otetubi & Co Chambers that any of our lawyers in court at that period should stand in for accused person who could not afford legal counsel free of charge”.
Otetubi noted that, legal service is very expensive which many of the less privileged could not afford, thereby preventing them from getting justice.
He further disclosed that, his law firm has set nothing less than fifty innocent accused free by providing free legal services to them.
According to him, ” Our firm free legal services to the downtrodden earned us an award from the JDPC on the World Human Rights Day”.
” My heart has always been for the people, especially the less privileged and those who do not know their right from their left”.
Meanwhile, Otetubi said he joined politics to make a difference and also contribute his best quota to the development of his people.
He stated that, people with sincere intention should join politics, rather than living the political space to greedy politicians who think less about the masses.
Otetubi said politics is a better and broader platform to work for humanity where more lives can be impacted.
