Stewardship: NSE Chairman Attributes Achievements to Team Work, Stakeholders Support

The outgoing chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Akure Branch, Engr Oloruntola Ezekiel has attributed his performance and achievements in office to Gods guidance, teamwork, cooperation among members and Stakeholders Support.

Engr Oloruntola was elected and inaugurated as the chairman of the Society in August,2020, serving the body for two years.

Chatting with the PATH at the Dinner and Award Night of the Society at the Multipurpose Hall of Housing Corporation, the chairman stated that the little he was able to achieve were made possible with the support and cooperation of elders, Excos and members of the Society.

Reeling out some of his major breakthrough, his led excos was the first to organized Memorial lecture in honour of Late Engr Raymond Olusoga, visitation to Orphanage Home and Public lecture during the World Engineering Day, Asun Night for Engineers to unwind, birthday for the past chairman of the Society, donations to State Government over bomb explosion at Eleyewo, Catholic attack at Owo and palliative during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Chairman stated further that it was during his tenure that the Commissioner of Land and Works, Engr Raimi Aminu donated land to the Society, Ondo State produced the Deputy President of Nigeria Society of Engineers, Engr Margret Oguntala FNSE, Ondo State Power Law was appended by the governor which gave room for the establishment of Ministry of Energy, Mines and Power.

He added that his tenure encouraged membership drive as young Engineers were inducted into the Society, scholarship for female students studying engineering courses, assistance to widows, position papers on Fire Service and Infrastructure, no history of building collapse due to proper monitoring of building sites among other achievements.

Meanwhile, he charged the incoming chairman of the Branch on need to improve on whatever he has achieved in the last two years of his tenure.

” The elected chairman of the branch is part of us, an active member of the Society and he is not a novice to the needs and demands of Akure Branch”.

Engr Ezekiel urged him to focus more attention on professional development, continuation of ongoing project at the Secretariat, embark on more public lectures and bring new innovation that will develop engineering profession in the state.

” I can vouch for him because he’s capable and he will definitely do more than I have done. I trust him, he is competent enough to continue from where I stopped”.
