As part of the activities celebrating the 60th anniversary of the CAC Grammar School Akure, Major General Johnson Bamidele Olawumi (rtd.) has been honored with prestogous award in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the development of his alma mater.
Out of thousands old students of the school, his dedication to giving back to the institution was officially recognized during the Dinner and Award Nite held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the school Auditorium.
While chatting with the PATH NEWS Correspondent after receiving his award, Major General Olawumi (rtd) expressed profound gratitude for the recognition.
“I give thanks to God for what He is using the alumni to achieve in the school. My own contribution is but a small part of what many of us are doing for our beloved alma mater. This institution has produced exceptional men and women who have excelled globally, and we believe it is only right to give back.”
He continued, “CAC Grammar School provided us with the essential qualities needed to succeed in life and our careers. It instilled in us a deep sense of discipline, integrity, hard work, audacity, and, above all, faith, which guided me throughout my journey, especially as I moved on to the Nigeria Defence Academy.”f
Reflecting on the school’s influence on his life, Major General Olawumi urged the younger generation to embrace the values and virtues instilled in them during their time at CAC Grammar School, emphasizing how these principles would serve them well throughout their lives.
In a warm and encouraging message, Mrs. Cecilia Olokunlade extended her heartfelt congratulations to Major General Olawumi on his well-deserved recognition. She described him as an outstanding colleague, commended his achievements, and prayed for continued success, honour, and recognition in his future endeavuors.
