Rotary Club Prestige Akure Donates 7 Units Modern Toilet, Water Project to Adu Memorial Grammar School

.. As Agagu Conferred with Honourary Membership, 5 New Members Inducted

The Rotary Club Prestige Akure District D9125 has commissioned block of 7 units modern toilet facility and water Project donated to Adu Memorial Grammar School Akure amidst pomp and pageantry yesterday, 26th April, 2023.

The commissioning have Honourable Commissioner for Education in Ondo State, Pastor Femi Agagu, Governor of D9125 Rotn Goddy Nnandi, District Lieutenant Governor, CNN Nnaemeka,Past and Present Presidents of Rotary Club, President Elect among others in attendance.

The facility was commissioned by the District Governor, Goddy Nnandi ably represented by Rotn Olowolagba.

In his welcome address, the President of the Rotaty Club Prestige Akure, Rotarian Adesoji Samson Omotade thanked all the invited guests, fellow Rotarians for their financial support and the principal of the college for the permission to erect the facility.

He noted that the successful completion of the project was as a result of the support, commitment and cooperation of the Rotarians who contributed in no small measure to the epoch making project commissioning.

In his words, ” As we all know that Rotary Club has 7 areas of focus, water and sanitation is a germane aspect of them and this is the reason why RC Akure Prestige decided to embark on this project as we know that availability of Water and Sanitation will curb the spread of diseases”.

Rotn Adesoji further stated that Adu Memorial Grammar School was chosen for the project having noticed the poor state of the toilets facility of the school, saying good hygiene of the students is very paramount to Club.

He urged the well to do in the society to join Rotary Club in contributing their impact to the society, noting that doing good is not about spending money alone but exploring other means to render service to humanity.

“There’s reward in doing good; doing good does not necessarily mean spending money alone but you can do good through your talent or others mean that will benefit mankind”.

” In Rotary, we make use of our 3TS- Our Time, Treasure and Talent to affect lives positively.

The President disclosed that the project cost over N5m before the completion, adding that they feel less concern about money spent but achieving the aims and objectives of building the facility.

Rotn Adesoji whose tenure is gradually winding up said within one year in charge, he has achieved a lot in terms of projects execution in education, health and humanitarian services.

His words: ‘ I have achieved a lot; education and environment are some of the major focus of Rotary. We done project on Child and Maternal Health, scholarship for students, humanitarian to the less privileged mostly the widows among others laudable achievements”.

Speaking, the Honourable Commissioner for Education,Pastor Femi Agagu commended the club for rendering selfless service to humanity at all times while thanking the club for honouring him, a geture he least expected.

District Governor of D9125 Goddy Nnady Represented by Rotn Olowolagba described the seven units modern toilet facility as a great achievements under the leadership of Rotn Adesoji aside the induction of five new members.

He enjoined the school to make good use of the facility and imbibe good maintenance culture of the toilets, saying the Club won’t come back to maintain the project while appealing to the decorated Commissioner to continue to extend hands of love to the Club and less privileged in the society.

In his goodwill message, Pastor Opaleye who represented the PTA commended Rotary Club Prestige Akure for building first of its kind project in the school, promising judicious use of the facility.

Dr Dorcas Asamo, the principal thanked the Club for choosing the school for the project, saying the project was timely considering the inadequate toilet facility in the school.

She promised to supervise proper usage of the toilets facility and ensure it’s not mess up.

Meanwhile, The Honourable Commissioner, Femi Agagu was conferred with Honourary Membership by the Club for his humanitarian service in the society. Also, Five New members were inducted.
