PDP PRIMARY: FARO WINS REPS TICKET FOR AKURE NORTH/SOUTH FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has elected Hon. Babatunde Faro as its candidate for the House of Representatives election in Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency ahead of the forthcoming general election.

Faro emerged as the party’s flagbearer through a consensus arrangement adopted by party leaders and delegates during the primary election held in Akure, the state capital today.

Speaking after his emergence, Faro described the moment as a special one, noting that it was his third attempt in the contest and the first time he would emerge victorious.

He commended the PDP for providing members with equal opportunities and fair participation in the party process.
“This is a call to service,” Faro said.

“Today marks the beginning of the race. I urge all party members to return to their wards and begin house-to-house campaigns. I will look for the necessary resources, but I also need your support and commitment*”.

The PDP candidate expressed confidence in the party’s chances despite the strength of the ruling party, stressing the need for unity, reconciliation and effective grassroots mobilization.

“We are going to galvanize party members, foster reconciliation and develop clear strategies to sell our message to the people. It will not be easy because we are up against a formidable opposition, but with unity and hard work, we can win,” he added.

Faro further charged members to remain united and committed to the task ahead, assuring them that the required resources would be made available to support the campaign.

The whole exercise was monitored by INEC representatives as well as the Chairman of the Electoral Committee for the House of Representatives Primary, Hon. Babatunde Akande.

Earlier, PDP state leadership led by Chief Mrs. Stella Ojo while receiving Faro as the consensus candidate, thanked party members for their peaceful conduct during the exercise.

She also used the opportunity to charge them to kick start campaigns in their various wards for massive votes for the party’s candidate.

In separate remarks, PDP Chairman in Akure South, Hon. Busuyi Michael and PDP Chairman in Akure North, Hon. Olubi Isaac, expressed confidence that the party would record victory in the forthcoming elections, urging members to remain steadfast and united.
