Oyemekun’s Principal Commends Old Students On Projects

The Principal of Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure, Mr Ogunleye Okeowo has commended the Old Students of the school for their various projects which has no doubt added value to the “only school’ in Ondo State.
Speaking with the PATH in his office, Mr Okeowo appreciated the kind gesture and commitment of the Old Students in developing their alma mater.
” Since assumption of office as the principal of the “Only School” in Ondo State, it has been multiple Projects from different sets of Old Students. It is more of a competition as no set want to be left behind in contributing to the development of the school”.
” The 1982 Set built Modern Canteen, 1983 constructed Modern Volleyball, Lagos Branch of Old Students also built Lawn Tennis,Ekiti Branch supplied about 200 Stools, likewise Lagos State among others”.
He commended the 2002 Set for building a Seat Out within the school premises, saying the project will serve a purpose of relaxation for the teachers, students and visitors to the school.
” I was here as a teacher in 2002 and I taught the 2002 Set; when they approached me for a project in the name of their Set, I was elated and the result is the concrete Seat Out erected’.
He noted that, the projects embarked upon by the Old Students is to encourage the present students to always be a good ambassador of the school and contribute to their alma mater.
Meanwhile, the principal said plans are on top gear as the school prepare towards its 70th anniversary next year.
” We are celebrating our 70th anniversary by January 2023 and we have started preparation, written to the government and as soon as we are giving approval,the programme of the event will be fully made public”.
He stated that, the Management and Old Students of the School are working together with a common goals of having a successful anniversary.
” The National President of the Old Students recently organized a retreat for all the executive members at Igbara Oke; we were there for almost five days, brainstorming on how to develop the school and deliberating on the forthcoming 70th anniversary”.
He thanked God for keeping all the students safe and healthy throughout the session, saying the school record no death among the students.
” We promised to give the parents result on the school closing day and we did; Oyemekun is the only school, that is why we alway stand out among our contemporaries”.
While charging the parents to allow their wards to have enough rest during the holiday so as to refresh their memories in preparation of the next academic session.
Speaking, the President on the Oyemekun Old Students Association, 2002 Set, Mr Oluwatimileyin Oni said the need to give back to their alma mater necessitated the Seat Out Project in the school.
” Oyemekun being the only school, we are setting a record of being the first government school to build a Seat Out in their school”.
