The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, (ODIEC) Chairman, Dr. Joseph Aremo, has stated that the withdrawal of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from the Saturday Local Government Election won’t affect the credibility of the election.
ODIEC is conducting local government election in Ondo State on Saturday 18th of January, 2025.
The Chairman declared that 12 Political parties will be participating in the election and PDP’s withdrawal will not affect the conduct of the polls.
Dr Aremo disclosed this at a press briefing held at the Commission’s Headquarters in Akure on Thursday where sensitive materials for the election were inspected by all relevant stakeholders.
His words: “the PDP has been part of the process—screening candidates, submitting agents, and attending our workshops—the withdrawal of one party out of 13 will not undermine the electoral process.
He added that the Commission can’t jeopardize the interest of other parties just because a political party withdrawn from the race.
The ODIEC boss promised all participating political parties of free, fair and credible polls.
