One of the leading aspirants under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party, Hon Abayomi Shebba has said he wants to become governor of Ondo State with intent to correct maladministration and poor governance of the ruling APC that has impoverished the people of the state.
He stated this during the stakeholders meeting of the party held in Akure, Ondo State. Hon Shebba, a former House of Representatives member said his mission is to rescue the state from the bad policy of APC lead government in Ondo State.
Shebba said the meeting organized by the leadership and Elders of the party was timely saying the party stand a better chance of reclaiming Alagbaka Government House if the party is united.
His words: ” All the governorship aspirants that attended today’s meeting agreed to work for the unity of the party and we can’t afford this golden opportunity of reclaiming the governace of this state and this can only be possible if we work together as a dedicated party men”.
He promised to turn the fortune of the state around for the good of the people, adding that among the aspirants in the race, he stands a better chance of clinching the party ticket.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in Ondo State said a consensus arrangement would be put in place to pick a standard bearer that will fly the party’s ticket in the November 2024 governorship election.
the Acting State Chairman, Basorun Tola Alabere, stated this during an interactive session organized by the State Working Committee (SWC) members and leaders of the Party, with aspirants jostling for the party’s Guber ticket.
The Chairman, Alabere, assured the aspirants that, the PDP is desirous of a consensus arrangement for picking a standard bearer, noting that if it fails, the party will organise a free, fair and transparent party primary.
This was contained in a press relases made available to the pressmen by the State Publicity Secretary of the PDP on Monday.
It reads: “Rising from the meeting at the State Secretariat at Akure on Monday, 26th February, 2024, the aspirants expressed confidence in the party’s capacity to win the governorship election in the face of hunger and anger in the land orchestrated by the All Progressives Party (APC).
“All the Aspirants were in high spirits and gave firm commitment to supporting whoever emerges as flag bearer of the party.”
The governorship aspirants that attended the interactive session are, H.E Agboola Ajayi, Chief Olusola Ebiseni, Engr. Adeolu Akinwunmi, Prince John Mafo, Otunba Benson Akingboye(OBA), Hon. Sheba Abayomi and Arebuwa Bosun.
Other leaders in attendance includes former Governor Olusegun Mimiko, Dr Tayo Dairo, Engr Clement Faboyede, Dr Kola Ademujimi and others.
