The Oyemekun Grammar School Old Students Association, 2002 Set has built 36 dual Seat Out as part of the project marking the 70th Founder’s Day anniversary slated for next year.
Speaking, the president of the 2002 Set, Mr Oluwatimileyin Oni said a lot of development are going on in the school toward the 70th anniversary of the school, along side the 20th years they left the school.
His words: ” We thought it wise to give back to our alma mater and part of the numerous list presented to us by the principal, we agreed on building Seat Out in the school, the first of its kind in any public schools”.
The President further said, Oyemekun being the only school has set another record of being the first government school to have Seat Out erected in the school premises.
” The project estimate is about N1.4m and the total number of seat is 36 dual seats; the project which is 90 percent completed will be painted the colour of the school”, he disclosed.
The President admonished the students to make good use of the project and focus more on their studies. ” Many people have commended us for the project, and the purpose is to provide a space within the school premises where students, teachers and visitors can has a robust discussion and relaxation”.
He assured the school management of the active participation of the 2002 Set in the forthcoming 70th anniversary. ” The project embarked upon by the Set is to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the school”.
Meanwhile,the Principal of the school,Mr Ogunleye Okeowo commended the 2002 Set for building a Seat Out within the school premises, saying the project will serve a purpose of relaxation for the teachers, students and visitors to the school.
” I was here as a teacher in 2002 and I taught the 2002 Set; when they approached me for a project in the name of their Set, I was elated and the result is the Seat Out erected’.
He noted that, the projects embarked upon by the Old Students is to further encourage other Sets on the need to remember their alma mater.
