NGO Donates Food Item, Cash Gifts to Widows, Students in Ondo

A Non-Governmental Organization, Women Empowerment Initiative Nationwide has put smiles on faces of some widows and students in Ondo State donating food item and cash gifts to them.

The event which was held at the Babafunke Ajasin Auditorium on Wednesday January 17th, 2024 had excited widows and students going home with food item and financial empowerment.

Speaking at the event, the State Coordinator of the Group popularly known with the slogan No Woman,No Nation Ambassador Obalemo Oluwatoyin said the financial empowerment was derived from the passion and need to impact the lives of underprivileged widows who have gone through so much pain and discrimination and might have lost hope.

Ambassador Obalemo added that to reduce crime in the society, the less privileged and indigents in the society must be empowered by the well-to-do saying the welfare of these people can’t be left in the hands of government alone.

While charging the government to support the NGO in their financial commitment to the needy, Obalemo urged the women to leave their comfort zone and join active politics ahead of 2024 Governorship Election.

In her goodwill message to the group, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr (Mrs) Olubunmi Osadahun urged women to brace up and stand for their rights saying the era of women sitting at the background has gone.

She enjoined women to be hardworking and engage in trade that can provide for their immediate needs instead of over relying on men.

The key note speaker, Mrs Oladipupo, a Chartered Accountant urged the women to be productive, industrious and add value to the economy of the state stressing that government alone can’t provide for their needs.

In their Separate chat with the PATH, Ambassador Ojo Bola Folake, Ambassador Ejeheri Victoria Adebisi, Ambassador Christiana Aduke Olarewaju and Ambassador Ogunmola Mercy said the donations to the widows and students was to motivate and show moral support to the selected indigents in the state.

Other highlight of the Programme was health talk where the Resource Persons gave lecture on Immunization and Family Planning.

Presentation of School Fees to students, cash gifts to widows and food item were given to the selected beneficiaries across Akure South, Akure North, Owo and Ose Local Government. Some outstanding members of the group were also rewarded.
