NCWS Thanks Governor, First Lady Over Appointment of First Female SSG, Says Akeredolu is a Jinx Breaker

The National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) has thanked the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN and the First Lady, Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu over the appointment of the first female Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Princess Oladunni Odu.
NCWS represents the voice of women across the 18 Local Governments of Ondo State; the group has been agitating for the appointment of women into sensitive positions, giving kudos to the governor for keeping to his promise of giving women sense of belonging in his second term tenure.
The Cocoa Hall of the Governor’s Office was filled to the brim during the inauguration today, as NCWS members came in their numbers to solidarise and felicitate with the new SSG.
The State President of group, Pastor Mrs Jumoke Aborode said Ondo State women are very happy with Governor Akeredolu over the appointment, expressing gratitude to Mr Governor for breaking a long standing jinx in the history of Ondo State since its creation in 1976.
While congratulating the First Lady, Arabinrin Betty Akeredolu on the appointment of women into sensitive positions in the state, she also commended Governor Akeredolu for taking the bold step.
” This is a positive signal for our women in politics. The era of women being useful only during electioneering processes is gone. Mr governor value for women is inestimable”.
Pastor Aborode described Princess Odu as a political giant to treasure, who is rich in intellectual equipment deeply entrenched, versatile, organised, sophisticated and humble person befit the position of SSG.
” Princess Odu is an accomplished professional who have left an indelible marks in her various places of primary assignment. Her immense contribution to womanhood has been felt within and outside the state”.
She commended Governor Akeredolu for his unflinching support for women in politics and the entire women in the state with his various programmes that were design to ameliorate the living condition of the women across board.
Pastor Aborode said with the appointment of Princess Odu as SSG, Akeredolu has proven that women matters in his government.
” Aside the SSG position given to woman, the Governor has made several female appointments, some of which included, Mrs Bunmi Ademosu, Special Adviser on Inter-Governmental Relations, Mrs Kehinde Adeniran, SSA on Women Affairs, Pharmacist Aladenola ,Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Mrs Julie Fayehun, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information among other female SSAs so far appointed”.
She enjoined women in the state to continue to equip and prepare themselves for leadership position.
