MEN IN ISLAM SOCIETY OF NIGERIA HOLDS LECTURE, PRESENT AWARDS TO OUTSTANDING MUSLIMS FAITHFUL

The Men in Islam Society of Nigeria (MISN) has held its annual lecture and award in Akure, the Headquarters of the Society. The event took place at the Akure Central Mosque.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the occasion, Hon Jamiu Suleiman Maito charged Muslim to always abide with the tenet of Islam, saying nobody can package Islam because it’s practice in accordance with the tenet of the Prophet.

He commended the Society for honouring eminent people in Islam, adding that the awards will spur them to continue to contribute to Islam and humanity.

In his words, ”I urge Men in Islam Society of Nigeria to also recognise whoever is contributing to Islam notwithstanding his or her status in the society. Award must always be on merit and not for highest bidders”.

Hon Maito appealed to all Muslims in the state to live in peace and harmony, noting that their cordial relationship with other religion faithful will bring peace to the state.

In the same vein, the chairman of Akure South Local Government Area Council, Hon Gbenga Olaniyi said for development to take place in any societies, peace is very important, saying it is the bedrock of development.

He charged every religion leaders in the state to continually preach peace among their congregation, saying Governor Akeredolu will continue to ensure safety of lives and property in the State.

In his sermon, the Grandmufti Ondo State, Sheikh Surajudeen Batuta charged Muslim faithfuls to hold on to their faith and always keep to any agreement they have with God and fellow man.

Feeding questions from the PATH Correspondent, the Chief Missioner of the Society, Sheikh Muhammad Jamiu AbdulWahab disclosed that the award was given to further encourage philanthropist among the Muslim Community to continue to contribute their best quota to Islam not only in Nigeria but in the world at large.

He said the recipients of the award were people who have contributed immensely to the development of Islam in Ondo State, saying the award was not for sale but given to deserving people.

The Chief Missioner who doubled as the Arabic Examiner for Ondo State charged every Muslim to endeavours to spend their God given wealth to promote Islam, noting that Islam support act of giving.

He tasked all Imams and Missioners to always preach the message of Peace and giving to their congregation and letting them know that there is rewards for giving.

On his part, the Chairman of MISN, Alhaji Oye Jimoh Akinbode said the lecture and award were part of the annual event of the Society, saying the message delivered by the guest lecturer has further exposed the need for every Muslim to live in love and unity.

Alhaji Akinbode asked Muslims to enhance they live in peace and harmony, noting that Islam is a religion of peace.

Among the dignitaries present were, Alhaiji Lasisi Oluboyo, former Deputy Governor, Barrister Gbenga Olaniyi, Executive Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Hon Sulaiman Jamiu Maito, Member ODHA, Sheikh Surajudeen Batuta, Grandmufti Ondo State, Sheikh Abdulhakeem Yayi Akorede, Grand Imam of Akure and others.
