Legacy Project: Ondo Education Commissioner Recommends OGSA Principal, Ogunleye Okeowo for State Award

The Honourable Commissioner of Education in Ondo State, Hon Laolu Akindolire has recommended the Principal of Oyemekun Grammar School Akure (OGSA), Ogunleye Okeowo for State Award following the commissioning of the school’s first storey building classrooms built by him.

While speaking with the PATH, Akindolire said the project commissioned is a legacy project that deserves State Honour saying it takes a man of integrity, accountability and probity to build an edifice that cost millions of Naira at this time.

He said Governor Aiyedatiwa will continue to prioritize education in the state as government has approved fund for the renovation of classrooms aside recruitment of teachers for both primary and secondary schools.

Akindolire charged other school principals in the state to emulate Okeowo by making judicious use of internally generated revenue and support from the PTA saying government alone can’t provide all the needs of the school.

He also appreciated the Old Students Association of OGSA and PTA of the school for supporting the Principal saying without them, little is what the principal can do.

Speaking with the PATH, Principal Ogunleye Okeowo said the six rooms storey building built by him was made possible with the support of the PTA, Old Students and approval of the Ministry of Education.

He said further that, the Internally Generated Revenue from the PTA fees and other revenues were put into judicious use which birthed the first storey classroom building in Oyemekun Grammar School Akure.

He thanked Dr Niyi Ijogun, the Global President of Oyemekun Grammar School Old Students Association for building the world class Administrative Building for the school, noting that the School Alumni has been of help to him since he was posted to the school as Principal.

Principal Ogunleye thanked Vice Principals, teachers and non teaching staff of the school for their support, cooperation and commitment saying he was able to achieved a lot due to the cooperation of these people.

He also added that aside the facelift of the school, OGSA is leading other schools of the state in academic, sport and other extra curriculum activities, noting that students of the school are making Ondo State proud in every area.

Ogunleye said all his efforts in placing Oyemekun Grammar School in the world map academically, sport wise among others has also earned him both state and national award.

Meanwhile, the commissioning of the multimillion Naira legacy Project was witnessed by principals of other schools, Ministry of Education officials led by the Honourable Commissioner, ZEO among others.
