The entire people of lfira in Akoko South East Local Government Area of Ondo State has rejected the plan imposition of unknown person on the community as Onifira of Ifira Akoko.

The protesting youths said the architect of the imposition claimed to be carrying out the order of the governor, which is strange because Governor Akeredolu won’t stoop so low to dictates who become the monarch of the town.

According to the people: “We are aware that our Governor has never involved in the selection of any Oba in the state since assumption of office as the Executive Governor of our dear state but some people in his government are out to tarnish his good reputation by scheming to impose an Owo person on the people of Ifira”.

” This move is not only a negation of our traditional values and cultural heritage, it is a taboo to our ancestral home and the repercussions would be unimaginable”.

Meanwhile, the people of the town are appealing to the peace loving Governor to call these people to order, saying Ifira Akoko has been peaceful before now, warning perpetrators of the evil machination to stay clear of the throne of Onifira.

” We are appealing to the authority to do the needful and allow the wishes of the the people and tradition of the town to prevail; this is Ifira, no stranger will be allowed to destroy the tradition and inheritance of the town”.
