In the spirit of marking the 2021 International Women’s Day, Female Drivers Association of Nigeria, Ondo State Chapter, distributed Cooking Cylinders and Foodstuffs to women of the state.
The 2021 International Women Day (IWD) theme is ” Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a Covid-19 World” using #Choose To Challenge as campaign tools”.
The State President of Nigeria Council of Women Societies (NCWS), Pastor Mrs Jumoke Aborode who double as the Matron of the association commended the giant strides of the female drivers for extending hands of love to the women of the state.
” I congratulate the Female Drivers in the state for deeming it fit to empower the women in the state with cooking cylinders and foodstuff; there is no better time to do that than now”.
She noted that, gone were those days that certain jobs were mainly for men, saying what a man can do, a woman can do far better.”Female drivers are very strong and unique, some of them can drive from Ondo State to the North”
The State President of the association, Mrs Yinka Odedele congratulated the newly appointed Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport, Mr Akinnagbe, asking him to always consider female drivers in their decision making.
” We are using this celebration mood to congratulate the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport, Mr Akinnagbe who has just been sworn- in; it is our prayer that good things will never forsake us as female drivers during his time as Permanent Secretary.
Mrs Olamide Falana, the State Secretary said the association felicitated with the Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN on his inauguration for second term in office, urging him to continue to appoint women in sensitive positions.
While thanking their Matron, Pastor Mrs Jumoke Aborode for her support, advice, love and commitment in ensuring women in the state are not short change,she added that it’s high time women in the state take their rightful position in the scheme of things in Ondo State.
