Hon. Festus O. Akingbaso: A Silent Achiever Making Waves in Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency

The tripartite divisions in the administration of the country clearly outline the roles and responsibilities of each component. The Executive, Judiciary, and Legislative arms are independently separated yet converge to make the wheel of governance roll. Our area of interest is the Legislative arm, as it affects the Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency.
Nigeria operates a bicameral legislative system, like some democratic nations. The Senate represents the upper chamber, while the House of Representatives represents the lower chamber. The latter is more populated and thus more representative, as its name connotes. Hon. Festus O. Akingbaso represents Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in the current 10th National Assembly.
Basically, legislators are saddled with the responsibility of making laws, earning them the appellation “Lawmakers.” They also have other roles, including oversight functions and monitoring the fiscal activities of the Executive for compliance. They are further divided into committees for smooth oversight duties and roles.
So far, Hon. Festus O. Akingbaso has demonstrated passion-driven efforts in lawmaking. Remarkably, he has presented bills in the following order: 5 amendment bills, 3 establishment bills, and 1 other. These bills cover health provision, educational facilities, financial services, and infrastructure provision. The feat achieved is commendable, bearing in mind the past history of bills presented by his predecessors. The volume of bills in number, quality, and overall impact when fully operational are significant to national growth.
Hon. Festus Akingbaso is not a pushover but a silent achiever who prefers to be heard because of his feats in the Green Chamber. The Federal Constituency has not had it this good. As a first-timer, he should be commended for the robust legislation thus far.
