Hon (Bldr) Oluropo Igboroodowo Inaugurated As Justice of Peace, Advocates Unity Among Ondo Residents

President Customary Court 2, Ilara-Mokin and a retired Deputy Director from the service of Ondo State, Hon. (Bldr.) Igboroodowo Oluropo has been Inaugurated as a Justice of the Peace ( JP) in Ondo State.
After nearly 17 years of inactivity, the Ondo State Government has revived the office of the Justices of the Peace (JPs), giving citizens an active role in local justice delivery.
The State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Dr Kayode Ajulo, and the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Olusegun Odusola, led the inauguration of the new cohort on Friday, November 28, emphasising a renewed commitment to the rule of law and community cohesion.
A total of 130 appointees, drawn from all walks of life, were sworn in, reflecting the diversity and inclusiveness of the State’s renewed grassroots justice initiative.
In his address, Governor Aiyedatiwa described the occasion as a turning point in reinforcing justice at the grassroots, in consonant with the ‘Order, Security and the Rule of Law’, which is the first component of the OUR EASE agenda of his administration.
Towards the improving on the security architecture of the State, the governor disclosed that he had just given the approval for the recruitment and training of 500 new officers for the Amotekun Corps.
Governor Aiyedatiwa therefore urged the new JPs to play their part in enhancing local security, peace and justice in their respective communities.
He reminded the new JP appointees that their office is a “sacred responsibility,” requiring integrity, wisdom, decorum and fairness.
The Attorney General of the State, Dr Ajulo, noted that Ondo last appointed JPs in 2008 and described the office as a crucial link between government and communities.
Ajulo outlined the statutory powers under Section 12 of the Magistrates’ Court Law, enabling JPs to preserve peace, quell disturbances and seek assistance when necessary.
He emphasised that appointees were selected based on merit, moral standing, integrity, humility and commitment to peaceful conduct.
Speaking with the PATH, Builder Igboroodowo thanked the Governor of Ondo State, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa and Attorney General of the state Dr Kayode Ajulo SAN for the appointment as the Justice of the Peace.
Igboroodowo stated that the appointment is another clarion calls to serve the state, promising to live up to expectation as an advocace of peace.
He enjoined the residents of Ondo State to live in peace and unity, noting that, development can only take place where there is peace and harmony.
Hon (Bldr) Williams Oluropo Igboroodowo hailed from Ijare in Ifedore Local Government of Ondo State. He obtained HND in Building Technology at the Federal Polytechnic Akure (Now Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti), Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science at Federal University of Technology, Minna.
He also obtained Postgraduate Diploma in Quantity Surveying and Master’s of Technology(MTECH) at Federal University of Technology, Akure.
He began full service career as a Higher Technical Officer in 1987 and retired as a Deputy Director (Building) in 2019.
Hon (Bldr) Williams Oluropo Igboroodowo is a member of the Nigerians Institute of Building (MNIOB) and also a registered builder with the Council of Registered Builder of Nigeria (CORBON).
Igboroodowo is a trained construction skills professional in Nigeria and the Centre Manager of a company, AKURE SKILLS NIG. LTD and External Quality Assurance Manager (EQAM).
He’s one of the pioneer stakeholders in construction trades skills training and certification recognised by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and Federal Ministry of Education (FME).
He is a community leader and Philanthropist.
