Akure South Chairman, Hon Fasua Presents Cars to Royal Fathers, Bus To Legislative Council
On Friday, a historic and colourful ceremony took place as Hon. Fasua Gbenga Timothy, the Executive Chairman of Akure South Local Government, officially presented vehicles to traditional rulers in the local government area, as well as a brand-new bus for the Legislative Council. The event was held at the Council Secretariat and drew a large crowd of government officials, political leaders, royal figures, cultural groups, and community members.
In his address, Hon. Fasua welcomed all the guests and described the ceremony as a landmark achievement in the history of grassroots governance. He expressed deep gratitude to God and sincere appreciation to the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Dr Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, for his support of traditional institutions in the state.
According to the Chairman, “The presentation of these vehicles to our Royal Fathers and the legislature is intended to enhance efficiency, mobility, and productivity in the discharge of their duties, especially in maintaining peace, order, and security within their domains. This gesture is timely and impactful, and we thank the Governor for his generosity.”
The Chairman unveiled the new vehicles and the bus for the Akure South Legislative members, emphasising that the vehicle had been fully paid for.
In a goodwill message, Hon. Tony Ala praised the Governor and Hon. Fasua for making history, stating that it was the first time in Ondo State that a local government had officially presented vehicles to traditional rulers across all classes.
He applauded the Governor’s infrastructural development, mentioning projects such as Oda Road, NEPA Roundabout, and the flag-off of Imafon Road, among others, within Akure.
One of the leaders present, Hon. Sunday Faleye, described the event as unprecedented in the history of Ondo State. He urged the royal fathers (Kabiyesis) to utilise the vehicles wisely and continue praying for the success of the current administration.

– Oba Anthony Oluwalade, Olu of Ijoka Land
– HRM Oba Akin Atere, Ado of Adofure
– HRM Benjamin Olufemi, Elekun of Ilekun
Speaking on behalf of all the Kabiyesis, Oba Oluwagbemiga Ojo, the Iralepo of Isinkan, expressed deep appreciation to the Governor and Hon. Fasua for honouring the traditional institution. He commended Governor Ayedatiwa as a responsive leader who listens to messages and calls, consistently supporting the welfare of royal fathers. He also thanked the Governor for increasing their salaries.
In the closing remarks, Hon. Mrs Adeola Rosemary Finchy, the Secretary to the Local Government, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his leadership and thanked the Chairman, the Kabiyesis, political leaders, and all participants for making the event a success.
