The former Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Akure Branch, Engr Ezekiel Oloruntola has been conferred with NSE Golden Merit Award by the Sunshine Engineers.
The Award was presented to Engr Oloruntola during the 2024 Engineering Week Distinguished Public Lecture Dinner & Award Nite held at the OSPDC Multipurpose Event Centre, Ijapo Estate, Akure.
The 2024 Edition of the Akure Branch Engineering Week theme was ” Green Technology for Food Security & Climate Change Mitigation” delivered by Engr Dr Halimat Adediran.
In his valedictory speech, the Chairman of the Branch, Engr Stephen Bolawole said Engineers have the keys to unlock the solutions to the global challenges facing food security.
Bolawole said said the journey of two years leading the association has been enriching, filled with challenges that have pushed him to grow and triumphs that have filled with pride.
Th Chairman added that with his team, they made significant strides in promoting Engineering Profession, advocating for policies that support their work and fostering a sense of community among their members.
Chatting with PATH, Engr Oloruntola thanked the leadership and members of the Society for counting him worthy for the NSE Golden Merit Award, saying his contributions and legacies while serving the association in different capacities no doubt earned him the honour.
He congratulated his predecessor who has completed his tenure for his good initiatives in capacity building.
Engr Oloruntola charged all Engineers in the state to deplore their skills and expertise in saving the country from the current high cost of food in the country, adding that Engineers have the capacity to design and implement technologies that are sustainable to change the challenges of food insecurity in Nigeria.
He advised the incoming executives to follow the laid down template of promoting and advancing Engineering Profession in Ondo State.
Some dignitaries honoured includes Ondo State Governor, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, Engr Halimat Adediran, Engr Tunji Light Arimoyo among others.
