In his effort to collaborate with every stakeholder in the Council Area, Hon Gbenga Fasua, the Chairman of Akure Local Government has held a meeting with Community Chairmen.
The meeting that was held at the Council Secretariat has over 400 Community Chairmen in attendance across Akure South, first of its kind in the history of the council.
Addressing the Chairmen, Fasua strongly emphasized that such meetings will become a regular occurrence to foster unity and development in Akure South Local Government.
He expressed gratitude to the Chairmen for their active participation in discussions regarding the growth and development of the local government.
He made it clear that the local government administration is unwavering in its commitment to implementing an all-inclusive government agenda in line with Governor Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa’s vision, to benefit everyone in Akure-South Local Government and Ondo State as a whole.
During the meeting, Hon. Fasua elaborated on four major areas in which the government is actively working to enhance the lives of the people. These areas include security, road infrastructure projects, the establishment of the Akure-South Local Government Market, and environmental cleanliness.
Hon. Fasua urged the Chairmen to collaborate with the government in securing lives and property, as they are in closer proximity to the community, and to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities for immediate action.
He emphasized the government’s readiness to establish a Fast-Response Patrol Team to patrol the communities while also conveyed the government’s approval for urgent road repairs within the local area and requested the chairpersons to identify areas in need of immediate attention for repairs.
Furthermore, the chairman appraised the stakeholders of the government’s introduction of a Community Market to provide subsidized food items and agricultural seedlings to the people.
He highlighted that the government of H.E Lucky Aiyedatiwa has allocated a total of 2 billion Naira for this project, with the promise of more to come.
Regarding Palliatives, the chairman pledged to ensure that the next set of palliatives will be equitably distributed through the community stakeholders and urged everyone to register their community with the local government for seamless distribution and project implementation.
In terms of the environment, he strongly urged the Chairmen to communicate to their constituents about the importance of maintaining a clean environment, emphasizing the recent cholera outbreak as an example. He also addressed the unacceptable practice of indiscriminate disposal of waste in drainages and waterways, stating that the local government will no longer tolerate such actions.
In response, the Chairmen expressed their gratitude to the chairman for convening the Stakeholders meeting at this critical time, demonstrating his dedication to working for the people. They commended the government for the proactive measures and pledged their full support to the administration through their efforts and prayers.
