CHRONICLE 2021 FIZZY AWARD: 8 OUTSTANDING NIGERIANS BAG CATEGORIES OF AWARDS

In recognition of the outstanding performance of some notable people in Ondo State, The Chronicle News Magazine has bestowed different categories of awards on selected personalitit’s, having fulfilled all requirement for such honour.
The award presentation was done on Sunday 28th March at the event hall of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA Hall), Akure.
In his welcome address, the publisher of The Chronicle Magazine, Mr Olaseeni Oyesusi said the need of reporting fair and balance news items at the community level birthed the magazine which has been in circulation for about eight years.
Mr Olaseeni said further that, the theme of the lecture was carefully chosen to check the alarming rate at which misleading news is heating up the polity on daily basis most especially in Nigeria.
He congratulated the lucky nominees and winners for the prestigious award, saying the award was given to them as an encouragement and the need to continue to be outstanding in their chosen path.
While delivering his lecture, the guest speaker, Dr Gbenga Abimbola of Mass Communication Department in Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko speaks on the theme tagged ” Combating Excessive Crime Rate in Nigeria; Roles of Community Newspapers in Tackling Misleading and Fake News”.
Dr Abimbola said Community Newspapers roles in combating crime in the country can’t be underestimated, adding that misleading and fake news can set a nation on fire.
He urged Community Newspapers and its Publishers to verify their facts and figures before publishing any story, asking them to leave out stories with no authentic source.
The peak of the event was award presentation to the awardees; the Lisa of Ile-Oluji, High Chief Johnson Akinyele Fagbamigbe bagged Pillar of Community Development Award; Dr Michael Gbala of UNIMED went home with Philanthropic Recognition Award; Mr Wole Otetubi, a Lawyer received Outstanding Legal Practitioner of the year Award; Dr and Mrs Wilson Ikubese, a Medical Doctor and presidential aspirant made the Outstanding Couple of the year.
Others were Dr Kayode Omisogbon, CMD of General Hospital Idanre, a humanitarian personified was decorated with Humanitarian Merit Award; Mr Olumide Oyeniyi Ojurongbe, an Ex Footballer and CEO of Mighty Global Logistics and Investment was conferred with Compassionate Leadership Award; Pastor Kehinde Odudu, a Mathematics Teacher received Exemplary Dedication Award and Hon Olugbenga Asade, Special Assistant to Ondo State Governor on Multimedia bagged Pillar of Youth Development Award.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Mr Wole Otetubi commended the organiser and publisher of the Chronicle Magazine for the honour, saying many of them were surprised when the invitation for the award were extended to them.
” We were just doing our best in our own little ways without knowing that a reputable organisation of Chronicle nature was watching us”.
Dignitaries at the event were former Commissioner at the Ministry of Natural Resources, Hon Idowu Otetubi, Barr Ajakaye, Col Ojorongbe, publishers of newspapers among others.
