Atiku’s 2023 Presidency: PDP Delegates Voted For Equity, Fairness- Jegede

A former Governorship candidate under the People’s Democratic party in Ondo State, Eyitayo Jegede SAN has disclosed that, the National delegates of the party voted for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar during the party’s convention for equity and fairness.
The Ex Vice President defeated other aspirants at the party’s National Convention in Abuja to clinched the party’s presidential ticket.
Speaking at the stakeholders meeting organized by Barrister Olumuyiwa Adu in Akure, the former Attorney General of Ondo State noted that, Atiku is the best candidate for the party ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
Eyitayo said for equity and fairness, North should ordinarily be given the mandate but in order not to shortchange interested aspirants from other zones, the party threw the ticket open.
” The PDP was at the helm of affairs in Nigeria for 16 years, out of these, the South West ruled for eight years under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the South-South ruled for six years through former President Goodluck Jonathan.
“The entre North consisting of North Central, North East and North West only ruled for two years under late President Umar Yar’adua,” he said.
Reacting on the lingering crisis in the party, he pleaded with the aggrieved leaders of the party to put the Party’s interest above personal interest, saying the leadership of the party will soon resolve differences before the commencement of campaign.
Meanwhile, he commended the spirit of sportsmanship of Barrister Adu, adding that, the magnitude of party’s faithful and leaders that attended the meeting has shown that Adu had strong support base in Akure South and North respectively.
