Akingbaso, Other Reps Elect Attend Leadership Retreat in Abuja

Ahead of the June resumption of the National Assembly, the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in conjunction with the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) have organised a leadership retreat for the newly elected Members of the House of Representatives.

The Retreat tagged” Strategic Leadership Retreat for Newly Elected Public Office Holders Across All Political Parties in. Nigeria was held at the State Banquet Hall, Abuja.

The four-days leadership retreat was organized to sensitize and prepared the newly elected federal Lawmakers on the task ahead as a Legislator.

Speaking, the organizer said the Retreat aim at enhancing the knowledge and capacity of the elected Members of the House who are new to the system of the lower chamber.

He noted that, the New Lawmakers would have been more equipped with the in-house working and nitty gritty of legislative work at the end of the four days programme.

He stated further that, the Programme will intimate the legislators of the function, procedure and practice of the House.

Speaking with newsmen, Hon Festus Akingbaso, People’s Democratic Party Member Elect for Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency commended the NIPSS and NIESV for organizing the retreat saying it was timely.

He added that despite being a State Lawmaker, he has learnt a lot from the programme and also afforded him an opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with Lawmakers from other states.
