A Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State in Social Investment Programmes (SIP), Barrister Felix Kolawole Alonge has described those propagating death rumours about the Governor of the state, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN as the real enemies of the state.
He made this disclosure while chatting with the PATH correspondents on the falsehood of some people on the state of health of the governor who travelled abroad for his annual vacation.
It could be recorded that, one online blog, Gistlover spread the fake news of the governor death in Germany which went viral, a news items that was fake as Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is hale and hearty.
Alonge condemned the online platform and the brain behind such publication, saying God has shamed the perpetrators of the news item.
His words: “Akeredolu is a destine child that no mortal can pull down. It is ungodly and barbaric to spread death news of your fellow being. Mr Governor is a God project that no man can uproot”.
“Every leader is installed by the Almighty God to help humanity and advance the wishes of God over the people. The Holy Books urge us to pray for our leaders. The injunction is for our benefit because when leaders act right, the people will reap the fruits.
“Wishing a person dead because of political or selfish difference is a sin and I will urge all those who wished the Governor dead to seek for forgiveness from God”.
He further stressed that, Arakunrin monumental achievements in all sectors since he assumed office are unprecendented for any one to think or wish him dead, saying God has proven that He is the only Almighty that giveth life.
He called on the Governor not to be fazed by the “evil wishes” of those who wish him dead, adding that Arakunrin will not relent in bringing dividend of good governance to the state.
While congratulating the governor for a safe return from his annual vacation, he prayed for God’s wisdom, knowledge and protection as he pilots the affairs of the state.
He also expressed joy that the governor is back to the country hale and hearty, saying God has shamed the rumour mongers and their sponsors.
The SSA suggested severe sanctions against purveyors of such fake news to serve as a deterrent to others, stressing that fake news has become a major challenge facing the society.
