From the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Union Matters and Special Duties

CLARIFICATION AND PLEDGE TO MEDIATE IN FUTA TEACHING HOSPITAL LABOUR DISPUTE

My attention has been drawn to a video circulating online in which statements I made regarding the ongoing situation at the Federal University of Technology, Akure Teaching Hospital were interpreted as personal attacks on the person of the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Segun Ojo.

I wish to state categorically that I meant no harm to the CMD. The comments were made in the heat of efforts to address concerns raised by workers and labour unions, and were never intended to denigrate the office of the CMD or his contributions to healthcare delivery in Ondo State.

I also want to make it clear that my statements do not represent the position of Mr. Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. The Governor holds the health sector and its leadership in high regard and remains committed to supporting all institutions and personnel working to deliver quality healthcare to our people.

As the Special Adviser on Union Matters and Special Duties, my responsibility is to promote harmony between government, workers, and management. In that regard, I will commence mediation between the Hospital Management, the Labour Unions, and other stakeholders to resolve all outstanding issues and restore industrial peace at FUTA Teaching Hospital.

The Aiyedatiwa administration is pro-worker and pro-progress. We will not allow misunderstandings to undermine the critical services our hospitals provide to the people of Ondo State.

I appeal to all parties to remain calm and allow the mediation process to proceed in good faith.
