68th VALEDICTORY SERVICE: OYEMEKUN GRAMMAR SCHOOL SEND FORTH GRADUATING STUDENTS

.... Be a good ambassador of your Alma mater - Ogunleye

The Management and Staff of the Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure has conducted a valedictory service for the graduating students of 2020/2021 academic session.

In his valedictory address, the principal of the school, Mr Ogunleye Okeowo stated that since assumption of office, Oyemekun Grammar School has witnessed a supernatural and tremendous turn around in term of academic, sports, infrastructural and vocational developments.

While congratulating the students, he commended the courage of the students and parents during the Covid -19 pandemic and for believing in the school. ” I advise you to make the most of every opportunity that will come your ways in realizing your goals and potential in life”.

The Principal disclosed that, the control and management of the school has been the rare combination of diligence, insight, foresight and determination to make an unbeatable mark in the nick of time.

He further stressed that, he aims to raise a generation of boys who are not only knowledgeable but skillful and creative.

He appreciates the cooperation of the school Vice Principals and the entire staff of the school who were suppoting pillars to whatever he was able to achieved. ” We have worked in stress free but very serious atmospheric condition. I have enjoyed a loving and friendly working terms in this school”.

He reiterated the effort of the Old Students and PTA in ensuring the school experience different developmental projects. ” Remarkable projects which are visible have been launched and executed by our Old Boys both at home and abroad”.

Mr Ogunleye noted that, Oyemekun Grammar School is very unique in Ondo State and Nigeria as a result of its outstanding academic excellence and high caliber personalities the school has produced.

” The school has produced great professionals in every field of human endeavours. Oyemekun was founded on the firm principles of integrity, honesty, discipline and academic excellence”.

He promised both the government and parents of giving values within the available resources. ” We shall continue to give value to the government and parents for the resources committed to the academic and moral well-being of the students”.

The Principal thanked the Governor of the State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for providing enabling environment in education sector, saying he values education that is why he provides free education for both the primary and secondary school students in the state.

” Apart from massive renovation of schools in the state, Mr Governor paid WAEC fees for all public secondary school students in Ondo State despite acute shortage of funds. Over four hundred students of Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure who wrote the last Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination benefitted from it”.

Speaking with the PATH, Mr Emmanuel Adefemisoye, Tutor-General, Ondo Central charged the graduating students to be good ambassador of the school, adding that they must always promote the values Oyemekun is noted for.

In the same vein, the PTA Chairman, Mr Michael Omonijo admonished the students to imbibe the moral values of the school in every facet of their lives.

In his speech, the Senior Prefect who happens to be the 68th Head Boys thanked the school principal and teachers for their parental tutelage during the period of their stay in the school.

He stated further that, monumental achievements were recorded in the school during his tenure as the Senior Prefect, saying all these feats were made possible with the collaboration and cooperation of his fellow students, principal, teachers and every staff of the school.

He assured the principal and the entire staff that they will continue to be a good representative of the school at all times.

The peak of the program was the induction of the graduating students into the School’s Old Students Association by Mr Anthony Kehinde Boboye who represents the National President of the association.

Also presentation of testimonials to graduating students, gifts to the Principal, Vice Principal, subject teachers, coordinators, school prefects and other series of gifts were presented to outstanding graduating students.
