52nd NIOB Conference: Surveyor Oludare Kayode Bags Nigerian Builders’ National Award

It doesn’t matter how many times you win an award; it is always very special when a reputable establishment consider one’s for a prestigious award. Among the numerous Surveyors in Ondo State, Surveyor Oludare Kayode has broken many records and setting new ones. He is the first surveyor in Ondo State to be inducted into Ondo State Hall of Fame, also the first to be conferred with Award of Excellence by the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB).
The investiture was done at the 52nd Annual Conference of the NIOB, held the International Event Centre, The DOME in Akure, on Tuesday, 16th of August, 2022.
Surveyor Oludare is a multiple award winning personality who has carved a niche for himself in Surveying Sector. The uniqueness of the award when compare to the previous honoured was the integrity of the body giving the award, its National Outlook and also being the first surveyor in Ondo State to be so honoured by the national body of Builders in Nigeria.
Since the Creation of the body, this is the first time Ondo State will host the annual conference of NIOB; meaning, it might takes another decades before hosting right will be given to Ondo State again. Surveyor Oludare is lucky to be considered for this Lifetime Honour.
It speaks volumes to be honored along side with the Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN who was conferred with Honourary Fellowship Award.
The award of Excellent Contribution conferred on Surv. Oludare is in recognition of his pedigree and efforts in promoting the cause of humanity and in the building environment in the state in particular and in Nigeria at large.
In his acceptance remarks, the Owo born erudite Surveyor commended the body for beaming its search light on him among the numerous Surveyors in the state.
His words: “it is a great privileged to be honoured by the Institute at the first of its kind annual conference in the Sunshine State. NIOB is an organisation that has Integrity, reputation and rewards Excellence. For counting me worthy among my contemporaries and bestowed on me Award of Excellence is commendable”.
He promised not to relent on the good work that earned him the award. ” I extend my profound appreation to the national body for the award, and I will continue to serve within the codes of ethics and professional conduct in line with best practices across the globe”.
The theme for the conference: ‘The Role of the Building Profession in the Management of National Assets” featured paper presentations with passionate call on government to impose strict punitive measures on individuals involved in building collapse.
The President of NIOB, Prof. Yohana Izam emphasized the need for controlled regulations of buildings stressing that building collapses were mainly caused by quacks in the building industry.
In a chat with newsmen, the state Chairman of NIOB, Dr Oluleye Akanni while noting that Executive Order 11 would open doors to a treasure of opportunities for young technicians, artisans and those operating in the building materials industry among others, congratulated those conferred with the Institute’s award just as he urged them to live up to the expectations.
